Bakliterati is a gathering of Filipino LGBTQIA+ writers and storytellers. Our mission is to provide a space where we can share our unique experiences as queer individuals. Bakliterati combines ‘literati’ with the Filipino word ‘bakla’- historically used as a pejorative term for gay men. And so, in its merged form, Bakliterati is a reclamation of the word, exalting the identities it now represents, celebrating them through words written, shared and talked about together.
